Ok I plan on pulling the motor out of my X2 in the near future to install bilge pumps. I'm know that it's not that big of a deal but is there anything that I need to know? Are there any tricks, tips or suggestions that some of you guys may have? or anything that might be a problem that is kinda out of the ordinary?

It's pretty straight forward, The hardest part is getting the gas tank out. Make sure it's empty or almost empty or you'll spill fuel all over the place. When you mount your bilge outlet make sure it's above the water line when your partial submerged getting on the ski or it will take on water

I was able to install bilges behind the motor next to driveshaft/coupler, by only pulling the carb off. If you want extra room to work, you could pull the exhaust so you have access to both sides. Has to be less work than pulling the motor/gastank.

Reply hazy, try again.
I have plenty of practice in this area First disconnect/remove your battery, Empty/pull your gas tank, loosen clamps on front and back of pipe and pull pipe, disconnect electronics, throttle, primer,Hoses. Then pull the four (14mm) bolts out of the motor mounts (I use a 3/8 drive w/ a extension). Slide motor foward then up!
I will also be pulling my motor today as I lost compression on the front cyl. yesterday! Pulled my head to find a very clean front piston <-- Saltwater cleaned it up nice(Blown head gasket, scarring in the front cylinder).

how do you get the motor lined up correctly when putting it back in? how do you make sure it is spot on?
I always install the motor first and align the shaft to the center of the pump area. Otherwise, the install can put exess pressure on the bearing support area. If the bearing support has been off, then you have a little more adjustment possible there, and I might have the pump mocked up as well before snugging down the bearing support. Its a much more forgiving setup than the early 550's were.

when installing a kawi engine, i remove the bearing support, clean it, apply silicone, then install the engine and let the coupler dictate where the housing sits. once the engine is in and tight, i tighten the 4 carrier bolts.

also, there should be a mark on the bottom of the inside of the hull that lines up with the line on the f/w cover.

I always leave the right rear motor mount on the bed plate and leaver the rest in the hull because I find it hard to tighten the big bolt on that mount. I can get a small ratchet or wrench on the mount bolts that hold it in the hull a littlle easier.

Look on your flywheel cover, there is a vertical lines that protrudes off of the cover. Now look in the bottom of your hull right at the bottom of where your flywheel cover would be there is an arrow there pointing toward the back of the ski. Line up the line on the flywheel cover with that arrow in the bottom of the hull and your aligned.
