THIS IS NOT MY SKI

I bumped into a guy that has a X2 for sale. This is not my X2, I simply thought someone might be interested in a cheap project...

I looked over it quickly, this is what I saw...

1987 X2 hull that he states has a good title. Appears virgin at quick glimpse. I didn't notice any front end damage as found with most X2. Has hood.

Engine is stock 650 he claims was rebuilt and ran last time it was used. The spark plugs are rusted, the head has corrosion and the bed plate has what appeared to be a significant amount of rust on it. The rest of the engine just looked dirty. It had an oil block-off plate.

The carb didn't look like the 28mm that came on the 650 models. He claims it was upgraded to the next larger size. It was a keihin no bigger than a 38mm.

The exhaust pipe was stock, but it had a mariner waterbox.

The electronics were opened, but appeared to be present and not too horribly bad. He said he stopped riding it "because it would not reach top speed after it was rebuilt." He claimed it was a problem with the "exciter coil" (stator I would imagine).

The prop was a skat-trak 55 (I think that's a straight 15.5). Aftermarket intake grate and ride plate. Steering was stock. Fuel tank present.

Looks like all parts accounted for, but I have enough X2. The ski comes with a single jet ski trailer. He wanted $200 but said his bottom line was $150.

Again, this is not my ski, but I believe this is a very good deal for someone who wants to get a X2 project. You could probably get a virgin hull, with title, hood, gas tank, steering and driveline, sell the rest of the crap and break even. From there it's put in an engine. I don't think it'd be worth it to fix that old 650 engine, but to each their own.

The owner is named Cliff. He can be reached at 391-4158. He lives in Maderia Beach, 653 normandy dr.

Hope I see a new X2 project posted. :Banane13:

If this was a little closer, I'd be all over it ... if he's willing to make the drive out to Orlando with the trailer, I got $300 for the trouble ...

I figured it would be. It didn't look like he took good care of it. The engine is worth $50 credit at SBT towards other things if you decide not to get it running.
