Welcome to the x Dan !

Xmetal setup is awesome. I run all xmetal...
I used the Umi bearings with my setup. as far as I know that is the only one to go with as of Now.

Welcome dude
I'll back up Caker's statement. Pat over a X-metal is a great guy who makes killer stuff.
As for the bearing setup- You can go with UMI or TBM. The TBM set up looks real trick. It doesn't use a elastic stop nut on the steering shaft. TBM came up with a locking colar which will keep the steering tight.

I believe you can't just go buy a bearing kit, the XMW kit, and have a working steering system. You'd still be missing stuff. Right?

Yes, you can order a complete UMI or TBM steering system minus the turnplate. You might have to use the stock turnplate clamps, can't remember if they come in the kit or not.

I use the JSS thrush washer instead of the needle bearing thrush washer that comes from UMI. It lasts allot longer. You can get all the bearings from JSS.

The bearings are no good with out the mounting Boss.......... you have to have something to attach the turn plate and bearings too...........

The Clamps come with it...............

I believe the system minus the turnplate is 133 bucks. Considering you can get the bearing kit for 20 dollars, you're paying 113 dollars for clamps and the bottom plate.

And the Pivot Boss (Part that the bearings and turn plate mounts to.)

It is not like they are selling 1000's of these each year...........

Yeah, that's part I was thinking of. And then some bolts.
Well, what are you going to do. Gotta pay to play I suppose.
I am glad I got my complete system for $50.
