I just talked to that guy. Turns out, he's a prince and also needs me to hide some money for him. He says he'll just wire it into my account.

You snooze, you lose, suckas!

I don't understand how they can be a sham, Gil just told me that he will be using them exclusively to distribute all of the new hulls... :dunno:

We had a preacher contact us last year. (He was here in the states) He wanted a granite countertop fabricated and shipped to Africa. He sponsored a church there. One of our estimators handled it, I did not know about it until a week later. I told him watch out it may be a scam. They gave us a Credit Card for the material and labor.... Then said they would handle shipping. Few weeks later they say that they need us to wire some money to their shipper. At this point the red flags started popping up. They also said they wanted another top made. Then the fishyness really started kicking in. We ended up stopping the wire transfer for the shipping. Never heard back from them. I figure it was a scam where they come back and claim the top was damaged or they never recieved it and do a charge back on the credit card. The money the shipping company took is also bogus. Probably have somebody actually pick up the material and then dump it somewhere.

We actually got an email months later requesting pricing for granite tops to be shipped to Africa.............again!

We got lucky, they never tried to get a refund on the money paid for with the credit card. Figured they calculate in some loss vs the money they actually scam people out of.

I used to get orders for the strangest things, like 40 pairs of snowmobile boot liners, and 1000 BR8ES spark plugs - ALL shipped to Africa. Luckily I knew this stuff was a scam long before it happened.

I was once contacted by a man from Africa that wanted to buy the Snowmobile deck I had advertised, he assured me it was worth every penny that it would cost to have it shipped back to Africa. I just laughed and deleted the email. Who falls for this crap?

I asked my bank (just for entertainment) if they ever hear of any scamming with their customers. They said yes and that it's a lot more than I would think. CL, ebay, fake pharmaceutical companies, giveaways etc... Scamming is at an all time high it seems. Seniors get sucked into it the most it seems. Gotta feel for them.

I have no doubt a SJ knockoff could be made for that price. There was a company in Brazil making 650sx knockoffs a few years back for less than $3k. They had a website, but I cant remember it off hand. They also had some Kawi powered X4 hulls.

Same thing happens to our shop. Had 3-5 calls a day for a while. Said they were in AZ and needed their ski fixed. They tried giving us a card number, and we would pay for the truck to get the ski up to our shop, but we knew it was a scam, with a stolen card. They usually use the program that deafs or mutes use, where they type in what they want the operator to say, and the operator says it over the phone to us. (It's a neat program to mess around with your buddies!)
