I guess my sarcasm/exaggeration doesn't play well on-line. Thanks Kurtwolff, I'm probably going to get replacement petals and go from there. I'll be one happy camper if this fixes my problems!!!

I've been using the search feature and reading a lot, but still have one question unanswered; are the stock metal reeds the most reliable for a pure surf boat? I'm needing to buy new ones and want to get a reliable set that doesn't have to be changed every 5 months (carbon). Any help/advice is appreciated.

Get the Carbon Tech Reeds from Riva. They are very reliable.

I've been using Yamaha (fiberglass ) Raider reeds for the last 12 years. Part # 64X-W0004-00-00. They are more flexible than certain other reeds which seems to be better for bottom end. They are also a lot cheaper. www.metricpartsdirect.com will get them for you for $21.27 (you need 2)
