I usually don't shoot video of racing because it's a pain to follow them around a huge course. I was waiting to shoot video of the Pro freestyle. I thought what the heck there isn't 27 of them mixing it up and going 80 MPH so I shot video of the X2 race before Pro freestyle. They were also on a smaller course which made it easy. Full screen it for all that HD goodness:

Yes, be patient. I do have the day job that gets in the way of my video hobby. I think the majority here would like me to work on the Komomo dancers video first.

yeah kokomos!!!!! f the rest haha...

Nice work on the race vid
When they do the full course and there are 27 skis going 80 MPH it's hard to follow the action through the viewfinder. This one looked reasonable to try to get on video. I also don't want to feel like I have to get every race. I like to chill out while I'm there too and take it all in. I shot 6.5 hours at Surfslam 2011. Shameless plug: http://www.youtube.com/surfslam2011#g/u That was way too much work doing it for "fun" but it is so amazing I had to do it. I could skip doing the AM stuff but someday that AM might be the next Ross Champion. I want to save that history.

I hear ya. Brought my cheapo consumer vid cam and a nice DSLR still cam to wavedaze. I had more fun snapping away than filming. I think I shot the holeshot of the x2 race at wavedays this weekend and gave up shortly after.

It wears you out filming and you don't really get to enjoy watching it firsthand since you are looking through the viewfinder like you said.

but good job none the less.

Video is a lot of work. Something I added a few months ago that makes a world of difference was a hood for the flip out viewfinder:

I bought a monopod for the WF and it was great. It's a cheapo but only weighs 14 oz.
