This is about a Riva Freeride Dry pipe aka Factory Type 4 Dry pipe
Well this was a learning experience for me. Thought I had all the water out - blew it out pretty carefully with my compressor in the fall. Turns out these pipes can trap a bit of water going from the head to the header of the pipe! Next time I will be pulling the water lines and blowing out each component to avoid the impromptu welding session!
Top is the crack - about 7 inches long - there was a nearly identical one on the opposite side. I'm no expert tig welder but I managed to use some 5356 filler rod on this pipe and get it to seal. I tested it by putting 10psi in the water jacket and doing a leak down over 15 minutes - didn't lose a single psi!
Back on the water today and the boat still has it! This pipe doesn't punch off the bottom but from about 1/8 to the moon it's a fun pipe!
