Most likely he is doing a file/save or clicking the floppy disk icon like he is used to in other programs like Word and Excel. That saves the "project". The project isn't a video it's the editing session. It's pointers to all the videos going into the project, what parts of them you want, transitions, etc. Saving the project is so you can make more changes later.

To output the edited video as a new video file you need to go to step 3 under movie tasks on the left. Go to "Finish Movie"/"Save to my computer".

You can also do a file/save movie file.

To double check this as a previous post says double click on what you were saving before. If it opens movie maker it's a project file. If it opens media player it's a movie.

Damn Rasper! :notworthy:

Nice writeup.
I've done the same kind of writeup here and on PWCtoday like 4 times already. It's always the same thing. M$ tries to make something that is rather complicated like video editing easy. In the end it's still complicated.

I work with computers for a living so I breath this kind of stuff. I can change my spark plugs in my ski but don't go much further than that.

Microsoft actually did a very good job at making video editing easy for the average person.

on the left side it says Publish to

Click on "this computer"

Name it

click next

Pick your quality level

Click next and your done.
