Will leaving the lanyard connected hurt a ski?

Well i hit the start button on my sn yesterday and was rewarded with the great feeling up emptyness when nothing happened. Then i realized i had left the lanyard connected for over a week, threw the battery on the charger over night and still i get nothing. Checked the fuse in the ebox and its fine.

Could i have fried a ground by leaving the lanyard hooked up for so long or does this not matter?

Also the bilge pump won't turn on either.

I think it actually helps save your start/stop switch... something about the rubber things inside... It made sense last year when I took apart my switch, but I cant remember why... something about stress being taken off when the lanyard is under it or something???? maybe it helps them from the rubber cracking or something over time??? something like that...

Only thing I can say is the contacts can corrode, and the plugs at the ebox can also be a problem. The design is too complicated, the kawi style is much simpler.

I have always left the lanyard hooked up on everything seadoo, yamaha, Kawasaki, wetjet. It doesn't hurt the ski but as stated above the contacts can corrode.

If your bilge pumps aren't working you have a battery problem since they are wired separately from the skis circuit.

Yep im a retard it was the battery. Everstart for the loss!!!!!!! It was supposed to be a brand new battery but threw the volt meter on it and its putting out .92 volts and this was after charging it for 24 hours.

I just fixed my neighbors 650 Waverunner III switch the other day. It would not work when he put the lanyard on. After he put the lanyard on he hit on the outside of the switch housing then it would work.

What the problem was is the rubber boot on top of the switch. When you put the lanyard on it lets the switch pole go up. Well the rubber was getting old and was staying down and not letting the pole on the switch go up for positive ignition..I had a spare rubber boot and it fixed the problem. He gave me 20 dollars and 18 of Bud light bottles! :beerchug:

I have used neverstarts for years with no problems. Yea they only last a year but they only cost $25 or $30. But with everything you can get a bad one. I guess I am lucky with not getting a bad one yet.

I should have stated that I don't buy the 16CLB that the SJ calls for I buy the one that is on sale. All wal-farts have them listed at different prices. I pick up maybe a 16B or a plain 16 but I don't buy the correct one.
