^ Love that! Did some thinking and had some fun on microsoft paint to jot down some ideas of what I'm gonna do. And I am in no way trying to copy someone else's foothold design. I'm just doing what I believe is the way to do. Thanks @MCrider for the tray pic to go off of :) The last pic shows an idea of what the tray would look like.widened tray.jpg adjustable foothold explanation.jpg tray.jpg

you dont need to loosen up your holds when you dont feel like kicking in. i used to just hook my toes in the holds. 90% of the time i was in the surf i rode like that.

Maybe your right, but it wouldn't make it really anymore difficult to have those 3 slots to have that option aha. So do adjustable holds that are just adjustable lengthwise seem like a pretty good idea?
Any other critiques on my idea?

the thing about adjustable foot holds is once they are placed where you like them. you never move them again
Yup, that's pretty much true. But since I'm shortening my hull, foothold placement is gonna be important so adjustability seems realistic IMO. Plus when you widen your tray, adjustable holds seem like best way to go instead of modding your tray to take standard holds.

I'm actually thinking about going this route for brackets, or something similar. Still lots of front to back, but some height adjustment as well-

I myself say I want bob adjustable holds, but that's not a completely accurate statement.

What I really want is removable holds. I do a lot of riding where I would benefit from a wider tray and do not need holds. The bob holds can be removed, and the bracket is screwed on so I don't have to worry about losing it.

If I just wanted to do freeride, then I would go with regular holds. To me, adjustable really just means heavier and / or weaker. I just don't see a huge advantage.

Like the b-pipe. Lots of people don't adjust them, and I'm sure if there was a non-adjustable version that just had one properly sized hole for $50-100 cheaper, it would out sell the one we are used to. It's what I would buy.

Those holds I posted above are removable and the brackets would stay on if you removed the holds, since it's screwed on. I've never seen or tried Bob footholds in person, but imo they don't interest me due to the fact it looks like they don't have much front and back lengthwise adjustment. Thats kinda worthless since I'm planning on shortening my hull and foothold placement is going to be very important. My holds have to be perfect for me to be able to get comfy being aggressive and getting inverted. My tom21 footholds with 26/26 and an extra layer of turf on the top are freeken awesome, but since I'm shortening my hull and widening my tray, adjustable holds seem very very realistic. Plus I've got an Rn pole setup that I can continue to shorten and riser bars to angle back too. My Rn pole is already at - 5 plus a shortened Blowsion steering setup and I'm only 5 ft 10.i like having my weight forward. Totally changes how you ride
