Why is my 05 SJ getting water in the tank? Check valve is good, and on the right way, gas cap has a seal in it. I got atleast a few quarts of water out of it yesterday, and I just had the tank out last month. I had the factory water separator still hooked up, which I disconnected last night. Ski ran away on the trailer like an air leak, thats when I started pulling stuff apart.

Clean everything real well, then add new premix, the pressurize the tank through the return line and see what leaks...if air leaks out, water will leak in.

Take the stock vent hose out from the hand pole and just use 2 coils before separator under the hood, silicone or rubber plug the hole in the pole grommet.

gas cap seal!

I kept having the same problem.... turned out that my gas cap seal was gone! I felt kinda dumb for it being something as simple as that and that I didn't notice it. It's worth looking at to make sure.

Chuck I did what ya said with the line in the pole.

Now I'm confused. I blew threw the check valve, reverse, and it was fine. I blew threw the return line into the tank and the only thing leaking was the check valve. Put my finger over the check valve and nothing else leaked. So I took it off again and blew into the check valve and it does not leak. WTF Am I building more pressure in the tankwhile blowing into it or what is going on? And if this check valve is fine, any other ideas???

sounds like a water trap. keep the hose short and youll never suck in any water. if you do it will only be a couple drops, not the hosefull.
short is the best way, its just not safe to be venting into/from the engine compartment.

There is no hose from the separator to the pole on my ski, and the separator has been getting filled lately - probably from fountains. anybody have pics or details of how to set it up right for a frequently filled engine compartment?

Quit doing fountains! Your not getting paid to do it are you? Water intrusion causes expensive repairs!
Spend $$ on Horsepower and lightweight hoods and hulls to get up and out of the water with big air tricks! Way less water problems this way.
If you have the stock water separator, just use a couple of small coils of hose and you can leave the drain cracked open to automatically drain if you get some water in it.
Use twin 360 pumps for pumping out water for doing fountains. One in front, one in back of the engine compartment.
Use a better hood or tape off the front stock hood holes.
