my .02 (with disclaimer) :

i didnt get to ride any of paul's boats, but of the boats i have ridden so far over the years, nothing has compared to what i felt riding chic's team scream 5mil stroker (that pat bogart built for FLSuperjet a few years ago and chic bought it off derek).

what a dream come true .. that boat hit harder than anything ive ever ridden.

Do you know if that was a Team Scream motor?

Chics boat was sweet..5mil on pump gas with wammer hull more my style....I rode Magoo's ski...I have no idea what all it had in it but it was incredible!!! It would take some SERIOUS getting use to for flat but i couldnt ride it in the surf. It was a monster!

Thanks to Paul and Chic for letting me get a ski test

I rode Paul's and p-diddy's within 2 hours of each other, to me Parr's had a better freestyle powerband and it dyno'd 158. Paul's latest dyno number is around 210, but with the way he had the gas valves setup the mid felt softer than Parr's. You have to realize this is his test engine so he's tweaking it for max power.

Parr's is a 5mm Lamey non-powervalve with Full Spectrums, B mod, etc etc. Crazy midrange.

I wish I could have hopped on Bogart's or Chick's to compare on Saturday.

i rode chicks boat and pats boat within a couple hours of eachother. they were, by far, the hardest hitting boats ive ever ridden. sick, just plain STOOPIT SICK, power!

I certainly would have let you, Darin.

BTW, it was great to finally meet you. Glad you hung around the campsite for a while---it was good entertainment for sure. Did we ever figure ou the whole lightning/thunder/speed of sound thing?!?

Found it:

Here's how to find out how far a lightning strike has occurred from your position:
Count the seconds in between seeing the Lightning and hearing the Thunder. Multiply that number of seconds by .2,(that's not two, it's "point two") and you have roughly figured out the distance from your position to where the lightning has struck in miles. So, If it takes 7 seconds to hear the thunder, then the lightning is roughly 1.4 miles from your position.
Is that confusing? A good rule is that for every 5 seconds from seeing the lightning until hearing the thunder means the lightning is roughly 1 mile from your position. This is easier to remember.
Here's why it works:
When lightning strikes, light and sound both travel in all directions away from the point of the lightning strike. However, light travels much faster. In fact, it appears to travel instantaneously to humans. Sound travels much slower, at 344 meters/second (m/s) or two tenths of a mile/second (.2). So we see the lightning instantly, but we hear the thunder seconds later.

It's funny, Charlie rode Scream boats, I rode Magoo boats, who rode both!??!?!?!

I rode both.

Heres my thoughts.

Chicks boat handled better to me. It seem to track better and had a nice bottom/mid hit. The boat was just so effortless to work with. I would love to have a full day on it and see what its all about. Chics boat has a complete setup from Pat Bogart and Pat's boats just have this comfortable feal. I cannot explain it. The boat was just my destiny

Magoo's boat was nothing but a BEAST!!! The hit was incredible. I felt like it was all bottom end but wasnt all mids. Almost a happy medium of arm ripping power that also carried up top. I never pinned it down because I was instructed to keep my throttle controlled. Magoos boat pulled me around like no other boat I had ever ridden. I can honestly say that it kinda scared me and that thrilled me like no other.

Both dudes have insane boats but I would need more time to adjust to Paul's boat. I have so much respect for paul because he rides that monster in the surf. It is seriously flat water flip material. I loved both boats. Thanks to both of you for the test rides

so then wait a minute.... whose SJ hits hardest when the storm is 4.3 miles away?

I'd say Bogart's since it would be the only one you could still hear from that far.

I'm so jealous! Sounds to me like anything in the massive horsepower catagory is more that most people can really use (but I would still try it). And here I was stoked riding a 100-110 hp boat for the first time.

Crammit442's boat is the most amazing thing i have ever ridden!! If anyone ever gets a chance, you might be lucky enough to get to ride it. the hit is absolutly insane, with flawless carburation all the way up to it's 62mph insane topend.
