FX-1 Who's running tubbies on their FX1

Tom would you recommend them for flatwater or just surf?
If the price isnt too bad i might just but a pair and try them. Holes are easy to fill, to bad my wallet isnt

should help anywhere you want alittle wider hull for some stability. and help in turning. previous posts in this thread have said what they felt they do for the handling.

Anyone have any updates on these? Im repainting the hull on my Fx1 this winter, and thought about throwing on some tubbies.

Im interested in carving. The stock fX1 carves OKAY if you lean it over, but the whole time the rear end is millimeters away from sliding out. Takes a lot of balance to keep it on that edge. The Fx1 will not flat carve at all either, rear end will just slide. You really need to keep the edge in the water compared to some other skis especially SXR and new superjet, which will flat carve.

a deep scoop intake grate may help with staying hooked up.

tubbies/front sponsons help to lift the front of the ski and give you an extra chine on the skid of the hull to make it turn sharper. it will help in the flatwater and surf.

use search to read up on them - they work the same for all the hulls.

this gives it more stability in tighter turns. not as unstable. I am terrible at putting into words exactly the full measure of changes and each setup and riding style will probably make it seem a little different as well. a few posts up are a few descriptions of what changes they experienced after installing. hope it helps. yoiu may just be that comfortable on that ski that you don't have the issues some of have? especially bigger guys.

With mine i def noticed the more stability in turns. I also think it has alot to do with what you feel comfortable with.

I really need to try a ski with them.

My biggest complaint with the fx-1 is the loss of hook up when leaning over. My superjet really stays hooked up. If the fx-1 had the hook of the superjet it would be game over for flatwater fun.

The 30lb difference between the two skis is night and day.

this is a common issue and has been covered and debated thoroughly on this site. you can upgrade to a 144 pump or use a kawi 140 pump. search and form you own opinions.

Yeah I know. Thanks Tom. I have all the parts for the 140mm kawi conversion. I also talked to you regarding the special kawi/yami bearing needed for the conversion.
