Which roundnose hood?

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse with this thread  . I've read a couple threads about the look and feel of various hoods, but how about strength? Keep in mind I can't really afford an $1800 247 hood unless it'll save me from purchasing two $900 hoods down the road. I'm still going through a steep learning curve so I need a hood that will hopefully last a season of 20' pancakes from all angles you can imagine. Are they pretty much personal preference or are some lighter for flatwater/racing?

Just call whoever you're thinking about going with and get one built for what you'll be doing. I have a 24/7 Millenium hood (prior model to SR) that weighs the same as stock with both carbon and fiberglass construction. It doesn't even have a stress crack in it after over 4 years of abuse. My buddy had a Millenium that was from Chris' personal ski, pure carbon, 9 lbs, it was perfect when he got it but now it's destroyed because he doesn't land rolls like Chris does.

Yamaboy2000 listed a used 20 pound Waterdawg Kustomz hood for sale on pwctoday.com for $500. It's heavy, but it'll probably never break (if breakage is your concern).

Get hold of Steve at the Watercraft Factory, and he will build you a hood to suit your riding style/conditions.

wcf has a very sexy looking hood and the price is right..... compared to 24/7's, anyway. though 24/7's hoods are super sweet if ya got the buck$.

There's a waterdawg hood for sale on pwct. I really like the wcf hoods I saw this weekend especially if they've been pancake tested and approved at the heights yall fly :eek:mfg:. Now I gotta work extra hard on tweaking my tax return :hail: .

brraap....thats so 2002
support the guys who support the sport, look at who came to daytona and who didnt, theres a company thats 2 hours south of Daytona and didnt bother sending any rep., and they want stand up riders to take them seriously. Watercraft factory and wamiltons were both representing at daytona, they both make great hoods.

Watercraft Factory is good for the price, and Steve has stepped his game up from the looks of it. I like it for both flat water and what little surf I rode.

24/7 IMO has the best hoods, but you'll pay...oh you'll pay

Steve does make a killer hood, but Jeff was selling a similarly constructed hood all last summer for half the price (maybe I don't have as much money as you do so I appreciate Jeff's pricing more).

I think Steve's customer service is much much MUCH better than Jeff's, but I just threw out the Waterdawg hood that's for sale on pwctoday.com because it's relatively affordable and extremely strong (both features that beachjunky alluded to liking in his original post). Also it is available for immediate shipment so there would be no drama :beerchug:

Can we please make this a Waterdawg free website? The guy may put out some nice products, but he has stolen enough money from PWCT members and I would hate for it to happen from x-h2o members.:Banane36:

mile loves to throw that boneheads name out there whenever he has the chance even though he KNOWS FULL WELL that hes a rip off artist and wont even pick up his phone, let alone support his product - or the sport for that matter.:boggled:

nothing wrong with posting a build-up.... even if its a xjet. as long as youre not preaching like one of waterlawgs deciples about how great he and his company are in every other thread and bringing up waterlawg every chance you get.

theres no reason, whatsoever, that anyone should get reffered to that ripoff artist on this board.

Awwwww crap!!! If I had known WATERDAWG was a ripoff artist, I wouldn't have just sent him a big fat check for a new hull :rippedhand:

Thanks for setting me straight you guys.
