Looking to pick up a new stand up, time to upgrade from my JS550.
I'm about 240lbs and need something good for my size.
I like to freeride and just play around.

Looking for the best machine to start with?

FX1?
Squarenose Superjet?
Roundnose Superjet?

If you like the feel of your 550 and just want more power
then look for an fx. I upgraded to my fx from a 550 and love it. But I'm also 125 Lbs... For your size a sj may be better and will e easier to ride. Both rn and
sn will be fine just make sure to have a 701 or bigger!

Any stuff to watch out for on the FX1? OR SN? OR RN?

I just don't want to buy a ski and then find out it is "known for this problem" or "commonly does this".

How much can you spend?

if you have to keep it around $1000 - go for a square
otherwise consider a RN, or a FX-1 with a pump upgrade

its all preference -
I prefer the FX-1 over the RN because it is lighter and more flickable, but mine has a SJ pump, and gas tank
the RN costs more and weighs more; but is sexier, and already has a proper sized gas tank, and pump

the FX-1 holds 1 less gallon and has a 122mm pump instead of the 144mm pump on any superjet

most don't care about having the smaller gas tank, but the small pump hurts low end performance.

According to some people on craigslist the SquareNose handles better underwater and it's hood isn't shaped like a camel hump, making it the obvious choice for freestyle, and since they don't make them anymore, the value will just go up over time, hahaha.

I'm building a super square (it's super to me, i had a 650). Then when I find a fresh RoundNose hull in South Texas (very unlikely), I will swap over most stuff. Besides, my project allows me to get experiance de/refoaming on my square.

Just find a round nose.... Period.. no point in screwing around.... I ride a kawi, but my next move will be a RN SJ... I will keep the Kawi, but the RN is a great ski... plenty of umpf and pizzazzzzz.....

I need low end performance.
Sounds like the fx1 is out of the question unless someone has installed an aftermarket pump.
