The 14/17 will make better thrust and run much smoother than either your Skat 16 or Solas 17 degree impellers. A Solas KA-SC-A 13-18 runs about the same as the Skat 14-17. Skat used an O-ring to seal the splines which does not work very well and has all but destroyed every 650 driveshaft. They can last if you carefully clean and grease the splines and then clean and add sealant in front of the O-ring between the impeller and shaft

FYI, the early Skat 14/17 were 15.5 with the leading and trailing edges bent down. effectively cambering the blade. A year later Solas introduced the Super camber series 13-18, then Skat had to one up them with their new 9-17. The selling point at the time was more spread the better. Whats finny is that the outer leading edge of the early Skat were nearly flat. They could have called it a 0-17, I think marketing was in charge of naming the product.

Every solas impeller I've seen is heavy and loads the engine really hard down low and kills acceleration. They're good for top speed. Skat impellers are lighter and dont load the engine as hard. I'm a fan of the hooker impellers personally and run a 9/15 in both a ported sp750 powered x2 and rn superjet
