300/440/550 Where to put hose when running on land?

I just put in a new 440 motor and i want to tune it before i take it to the lake. I just need to know where to hook up my hose to put water through the cooling system. And how much pressure when doing so? photo.jpgIt this the hose with the white clamp on it running into the exhaust manifold?

Insert hose in the intake manifold.

No really - the basics of running the JS on hose is that you need to start the motor first - most important!!!

In that picture I don't see the usual hose fitting for running it on a garden hose - so don't go putting water in any of those hoses/wires (unless you want a 3 stooges like reaction).

After running for like 10 seconds revved to the moon (you don't have to do that) you should be able to find a (granted, this is only true if the chap before you put the part on) hose right neat the head of the motor that has a hose female threaded attachment, always with a plug (unless it's a fancy quick disconnect, which is not likely on a JS).

Attach the hose there, but don't start it until after the motor is running. Make sure you stop it before you turn off the motor as well - and then you can rev it to clear the engine of the water after the hose has been shut off. Just don't power rev it dry - but you probably already know this.

Kickin it old skool
The best way to tune is to get a couple of ur buddies put on on each side .point the nose towards the dock at the lake start it and tune that way.they will always run different on land and in water

Def cant tune on the hose. Once you drop in the water it will run completely different. My suggestion would be to set the idle a little high before you drop it in. If unfamiliar with tuning these carbs do some research on tuning before you start. It will save a huge headache. Happy tuning!
