took apart my start/stop switch and this part jumped out
where does it go?

This part clips over the wire loom (inside) as it comes through the plastic cover. It's there to help prevent the wire loom from being pulled out of the switch assembly.

Whenever I run into a problem like this I look up the OEM parts diagrams, usually at www.dgy.com which show a picture with the order in which everything goes together
