so VERY VERY true.

Ive nearly been run over so many times by bassboats, ive had them come too close while pulling the kids on the tube, had them cut in front of me while driving a fishing boat, all sorts of ridiculus stuff.

BUt yep, If they so much as HEAR my jetski, I get the " stupid punk" look from them.

We all gotta share the water, a little respect and forethought goes a long way.

( I fish too, but I dont own a bassboat!)

what i like is when you are riding at least 150 feet away from a bass fisherman on his boat he will throw his arms up shaking his fist at you on the ski. another bass fisherman will fly by the same boat at 80 mphs and about 50 feet or closer and they will wave at each other. most fisherman think they own the lake whether on a boat or on the bank.

We went to a local lake last year, and there was about a hundred bass boats on the water or just putting in. They were having a bass tournament. We just left and went to another lake. You would've thought we'd pulled in the parking lot dragging dead puppies from the looks we got.

My parents have a place On Riley's Bay(which is on the Bay of Green Bay) and we always have fisherman blocking our way to our dock. So My dad's rule is that we give them all morning to fish and dont go out until noon. Then the water in front of our place is fair game. We always get the bass boat guys in front of us, and they think they own the place...

I dont have anything against fisherman, My uncles fish up there as do I all the time. (but there should be a fair compromise)

regardless of the way fisherman act. me and my riding partner go out when the wind is kicking 30 to 40 mph. most of the time the bass fisherman are getting off the lake because we get 5 footers coming in, it is a 25,000 acre lake. we always help them load or unload or hold their boat so that is is not crashing against the boat ramp. we are always helping boaters get in and out of the water. it makes for pleasant days on the lake.

I don't care what you are doing (fishing or boating) or what kind of watercraft/boat you are on, there is nothing you can do about inconsideration and stupidity. The problem is not bassboats, jet skis, or boat launches...it's the people you happen to run into at any given time.

i have to agree with most replies here, its the people, not the sport. being a fisherman myself, i know that it sux to be interfered with. therefore, i give a wide berth regardless of being on a boat or ski.
i also believe in being taught a lesson, so i would recommend when people are clogging the ramp and being rude about it throw a fountain to get the point across..... then again, i am kind of a dich!!

My favorite is how the fishermen always shake fists at us when we go out the inlet. They are fishing in the fricken inlet!!! What do they expect!!

haha no hating on bass fishermen. pwcs get very annoying when your sitting there fishing they they keep running around by you. when a bass boat goes flying by its cool cuz they keep going. pwc's just stay there and annoy the ******** out of you.being a bass fishermen myself if understand why they get mad. i will admit that many of them think they own the lake but when they get their boats going 70+ they dont like to move or get out of anyones way

The way I see it is the people who think fishing is a sport or fun for that matter have a physical affliction

No....killing fish is fun. I killed 6 this weekend.

I was at Havasu last month and a bass tourney was happening. There was the typical guy in the middle on the inlet to a popular cove. My buddy prodeeds to enter the cove at about 40 MPH and do a big loop and exit the cove. The inlet was no more than 100 feet across. I thought the guy was going to cast at us. Here he is in the middle of an inlet that had no wake or speed restriction and he gets mad. Personally I would have slowed down and shown a little more respect.

The way I see it is the people who think fishing is a sport or fun for that matter have a physical affliction (although some say it's all in the mind).

The truth is that holding a stiff fishing rod is all they have left to remind them of the more virile days.

:haha: and I LOVE to fish, so I don't know WHAT that means

but on subject, lol, while skiing with the boyz in Auggie last year, and all of them trying to keep me from getting killed since I knew nothing about surf riding etc., I was going under one of the bridges...being near sighted, I couldn't read the signs until it was too late. A male (redneck) fisherman intentionally cast his line at me trying to hit me...came very close too. The nerve...a female here of all things at least going super slow trying to be compliant in addition to not scaring off the fish.

Plus, Nick got his beach cart wheels multi-slashed a few weeks back by a knife (had to be a fisherman). Florida skiers have it bad, and it's just a shame since everyone I have ridden with is super educated in safety and considerate to others on the water

I love to fish too, hence working at a fishing shop... However, lets get some eqaulity in here by stating whats up with sailboaters?

There are 3 sub-creeks off of the main creek in front of my house, which are 6 knot maintained on weekends and holidays (SAT, SUN, HOL) so the sailboaters got tired of our 6 inch wake and spray painted over the SAT SUN HOL part of the markers. So we were cruising around, and everybody is trying to get our attention (jumping up and down and waving their hands) we knew what they wanted so we waved back at them. They're assholes anyways and yell at us over a megaphone to get out of the way when we're wakeboarding and such. PUBLIC area means its not just sailboats buddy!

We went out the next night and rightfully repainted the SAT SUN HOL back on the markers.

emphasis on its the people that you run into out there.

I have my sailboats and my jet skis, lets not rag on sailors.

Oh yeah, and if you see a dinghy sailboat out and about, dont thinks you're cool going around him or her even if you are checking out the boat, the constant variable wake plays hell on amateur sailors and throws them into a "dead zone"

Just defending us sailors out here.

I do enjoy the look sI get when I pull up to a Jet ski beach with my Hobie Cat on the back of my car.........Then pull out my SJ from underneath the boat. :sneaky: :woot:

yeah, I help crew a sailboat during some fall races when I have time, thats cool, those hate jetskis though.

But most of them think they are all morons spinning around near the boat ramp! so they are somewhat justified by the typical experience with a 'jetskier'

we all have to share, when will people figure that out?

I race sailboats as well, just easier to say sailboaters. You know the type, polo shirts all the time, country clubs, nose in the air, or they're just old hairy assholes who hate the new generation. Either way they really piss me off.

Edit: Thought of something, and just wanted to add that some of them look like LL Bean catalogues.

the requirement around here is that they listen to alot of Jimmy Buffet.

I work with a few of them, and luckily we get along well.

but, yeah, your descriptions are accurate for ALOT of them.
