Super Jet Whats up with a "flat top"motor"?

Back on topic for just a sec, if you dont mind gil.

Does anyone know if the port shape has any correlation to the type of piston? For example could i swap domed pistons into my "flat top motor" or vice versa, and have it work relatively the same? Obviously domes would be changed.

They are not interchangeable. The distance from wrist pin to piston dome is different, so the port timing would be different.
A flat top engine is specifically ported for flat top pistons.

All I can say is the flat tops always seemed to rev faster than the domed pistons, of course this could be simply due to weight differences?????

There is a noticable difference though. However there is some machine work and dome figuring to be done, you obviously cannot just throw flat top kawi pistons in your motor and expect it to run.

If it were me, (and thank GOD it's not), I would probaly go start another thread asking about what is better, 0*, 2*, or dome top* pistons..............
