whats better?

do both. the rear footholds dont get in the way if you never use them and if you decide you dont like the straps they are easily removed.
you definitely should have a front foothold or strap up front to give you the option to ride surf stance.

originally i was just going to cut my own foot holds and just reglass the whole tray. After that i think i will add a front food strap because that way i could still ride with a good surf stance does that sound like it will work?

there is no reason to use footholds in the surf ...dont even waste your time and money installing them...if you plan on doing flatwater freestyle then put them in but put two straps in as well for when you ride the surf..whats the point of using one just in the rear??..so you have less control and your balance is thrown off because your foot isnt in the middle of the ski??...two straps is the way to go..no question about it..if you ride with your feet in one place on the ski it always handles the same..if your moving your feet around all the time your ski rides differently depending on where your standing..and the myth that they are hard to get out of is not true...when you do need to place your feet in a different location to save yourself from a fall you can easily move them in and out of the straps..just look at the difference in style and how hard they are hitting the lip between people using straps or a rear foothold..that should answer your question

I think it's personal preference but it doesn't hurt to ask...

why do you have your front strap pointing forward? mine is installed like that and never use it because I prefer my front foot to point to the side.

one of these days I'll move the front strap.

Thats why I love the Front Hold.. for different angles.
Like his is foward. I will ride like that surf riding
but for long big backys, i put front foot more sideways.

And Andrew, Mybad.. I think on Fullgaz 07 tour Ross does double in surf stance.. I Stand corrected... no pun.. LOL :fing02:

its not compleatly forward and i had it more sideways in my old ski and its easier to get your heel wedged against the side of the tray while your toes are caught in the strap which will get you stuck in the strap..i put my foot sideways in this one too but you can still put pressure against the side of the tray for leverage..

this guy thats asking the question is just coming from a 650sx so i dont think he has to be worrying about double br's anytime soon...and for me id rather not do a trick than do it with footholds

and i think joe had done some doubles and i know if he did they were in straps

i learned to roll in footstraps.

over the years ive stopped being a fan of the typical rear footholds in the surf. i do prefer having one foot forward.

if your not going to roll or flip in the surf why bother with either

I am going to ride more in the ocean than anything so i am wondering what is better to go with footholds or foot straps?
If you ride with your feet facing the nose of the ski why change? Like left foot very close to the rear and right foot forward slightly. This can be a huge advantage if you need to hip drag either way to collect yourself when riding in the surf.If your strapped in can you drag your knees to collect yourself?I dont have straps or foot holds so disregard everything i've typed.

actually i think it helps allot for recovering..i always just fall to my left (backside) and just bounce off the water while giving it gas while staying strapped in...most of the time you just pop right back up...when i do fall to the right you can just move out of the straps real quick and just drag a leg or whatever you need to do...also besides jumping or reentries i think the straps help allot..you can just come up and do a floater or just hit the lip and hang there waiting for it to pitch and then gas it and air drop back down..with straps its pretty easy..ive tried it on other peoples skis without and its really hard...the overall control is night and day between straps and no straps

Instead of thinking about style I focus my attention on riding parts of the wave that others seem to be avoiding. Can I get some style points for that even though I don't ride surf stance?
