whats a 98 superjet worth? (looking for my first ski)

hey everyone i am still on the lookout for a roundnose superjet for my first ski. I found a guy who wants to sell me a 98 with impeller, grate, and ride plate. Roundnoses are hard to come by in MN so they do go for more money but what do you think i should offer?

That's fairly stock. $2000 would be a pretty good deal, $2500 would be decent and anything over that would be based on just how bad you want one and the condition. If it's mint, then it very well could be worth closer to 3k. Don't over pay too much or you'll be behind where you could be on having a more modified ski shipped from somewhere or paying for the gas to go get one.

they guy says its mint, and only has 15hours on it. how he knows the hours i don't know but it is supposed to be in mint condition

do your best at bargaining but dnt spend more than 2800, especially in this economy..there will be some good deals out there

15 hrs on a 98? That doesn't sound right. Does he mean 15 hrs on a rebuilt motor? Anyway its still an 11 year old ski and in this bad economy the deals are coming, I say 1500 to 2000 or even less. Be sure and do a compression check and roll the ski on its side and inspect the bottom to see how much wear/scratches and gouges are in the hull bottom

The Good Old Days
Every ski is hard to find when you are looking.
Just watch how many will pop up the day after you get one.
Just the way it is so find the right one for you.

BTW, I need an X2.

i offered him 2700 and he wants more, so ill pass......roundnoses are hard to get up here in MN, i cant find any of them around

That was probably the right move. Let him know that the offer stands until you find another one and he very well could sleep on it and change his mind. Wait until he throws it on craig's list and gets $500 offers.....that'll change his mind. Some people just have an inflated view of what their stuff is worth. $2700 would be a fair price for both of you. If he can get more than that, then good for him.
