What weight carbon or kevlar have you used for reinforcment?

Looking to reinforce my fx. I wanted to use carbon, kevlar or a hybrid fabric. Us composites sells the hybrid fabrics in 5.5 oz, and the kevlar comes the heaviest in 5 oz. The carbon comes in a wide range of weights.

Just wondering if i can get away with a lighter weight carbon / kevlar fabric vs fiberglass. I have 17oz in my square now and its a tank but was trying to go for a lighter ski. I still plan on reinforcing the nose and tray quite a bit.

Kevlar is real hard to work with and is too heavy IMO. Carbon and hybrid weaves are pretty but are overkill for the home reinforcement job.

17oz is way overkill. I'd think you would want to use a couple layers of alternated orientation 6 or 8oz biax
