What was your FIRST ski?

Was reading a thread in the Old School section and decided to start this thread.

So---what was the first ski you RODE and then what was the first ski you OWNED?

I first learned on an '84 or '85 Kawi 550 that a friend from California had. Although I am a Florida native, my first ride wasn't until 1989 while I was in the Air Force stationed in Altus, Oklahoma.

The first ski I owned was a 1989 JS550. The blue and pink stripes really complemented the white hull.

I rode a 440 back in the mid 80s for a few minutes.
Then I bought my first ski this summer, my 750sx. Mostly stock, but getting ready for mods....:smile:

'79 440, with mild porting, Kerker pipe, and a lot of little stuff like impeller/plate/grate/etc. I was the fastest out of my buddies, we all had 440's.

my first ride was when I was in the mid 80's it was a red kawi. I don't know what year or size.

My first ski was my 93 blaster.

First ski I rode was some rental Seadoo - I have no idea what model.
Then I bought a brand-new 2003 Seadoo GTI LE. We did have lots of fun with it.
Until I tried standups.

i bartered it with a customer.... just needed a flywheel and a battery. he also had an x2 that he would barter, but i liked the thing with the up and downy steering better..... that and i didnt want to be seen on an x2.... IT HAS A SEAT!

I first rode a kawi 750sx back in 94 or so and then bought an 89 650sx in july of 2005 and then got hooked and bought my current square in sept 05.
There was also a seadon't gsx thrown in there before I saw the standup light but I won't mention that

First rode an '86 550 rented from Ron Jons Surf Shop (they used to sell skis, even had them hanging suspended from the ceiling back then!:biggthumpup: ).

Bought my first Ski right out of college, an '87 550. Rode it all over Daytona & New Smyrna; back then there were no "zones" or rules as such.:Banane01: :Banane01:

B.S. (before stand-up)
1992 Polaris SL650 - bought new in '92 gave to wife in '93 to buy a Yamaha
1993 Yamaha ProVXR - bought used - wrecked in '94 during nasty storm on Lake Erie.
1995 Yamaha WaveRaider - bought new in '95 traided in '98
1998 Yamaha GP1200 - bought new in '98 wrecked in the Gulf of Mexico in '01
1993 Yamaha Waveblaster - bought used, rebuilt several times, sold it in '06

A.S. - I think of this time in my life as my riding rebirth or stand-up awakening. To me, this is when I really started to ride... and what I consider as owning my first ski.
2001 Yamaha Superjet - bought new and still have.
1995 Yamaha Superjet - bought as a winter project - still have
