SX/SXi/SXi Pro what was the last year kawi made the 650 sx?

A friend insists they made them into the late 90's and is holding out on buying one till he finds one. The newest I've ever seen was 95. Google was no help on the subject lol

look at the last 2 digits on the HIN# of any kawi ski, if that is the ski of interest i can tell you it is not a 95, The grapics on the later years sx 650s were not red white and blue, they where a blue hand pole and white hull with rear exhaust outlet. I have had 4 of them ( wayyy back when) 91-94 had silver painted engines with a 38mm carb. The 86-1990 engines were black with a red cyl head, sporting the 28mm carb and external fuel pump with front exhuast. I had heard they stopped production in 94,and i have never seen a 94 relabeled as 95. in 92 the 750sx was released and pretty much took over, the 550 was still very popular as it was smaller lighter and more nimble. ( i too have a ghey soft spot for a S.E. 550sx in minty shape ) anymore brain busters? Use the knowledge You now have and beatdown the price as it is not what he says and see what happens. the last 2 digis will tell you when it was produced. 1000 bucks with a new hydroturf mat that is coming off? I'd pass..

My first ski was a minty fresh 89 650sx for $800. That was also 6 years ago and for some reason people are asking more and more for their ski's these days.

That color scheme was produced in 1988.

6 years ago, the economy was doing great, so people were buying new, and old stuff could be had cheap. 3 years ago the economy was in the :):):):)ter, and people couldn't give stuff away. Now the economy is not like it was but it is still pretty good. They discontinued the SXR and are still making the SJ but now more than they were. People no longer are in dire need of money so they are not giving away used skis, the market isn't great enough for everyone to want a new ski, and the availability of new skis is down, all of these lead to the price of used skis being up.

Nothing has a set price, it's all about what someone is willing to pay. Right now, it is shifting to a sellers market.

I thought it was funny about 2 years ago when I saw a steady and rapid increase in used pricing, all the while all the "experts" said the market was still struggling and we were facing another depression. They obviously were not looking at the used market. Prices went up because people don't need money and are willing to sit on a high price, because they know people have money, and are willing to pay more than a few years ago.

Don't be surprised to see a 650sx that sold for $800 3 years ago selling for $1200 now (assuming condition is the same). The going prices of used SXRs in my area has gone up by $500 in the last 1-2 years (for the same model year and condition).

The last year for 650 standup was 1993. The X2 went to 1995 and the TS to 1996. I never found any difference in hulls between 87-93, engines got small upgrades in 89 and 91. They are a more fun with lots of power.

My first 650SX cost $3000, it was a 1988. But I bought it in spring of 1990 in used "like new"condition. It was the big dog ski of that time, at least till the 750SX came out in 92...

oh ya that ski is a total pile of S*** but that's the ad that has my buddy hooked on wanting a 95. I personally already have a superjet, and will be picking up a super clean 92 650sx tomorrow for when friends come and want to have some fun too. it blows riding alone

so I just noticed that the ski in the original ad has the side exhaust. correct me if i'm wrong but didn't that go away in like 1990???? lol
