Call Fiberlay and ask what they got and what they recommend. Those guys know Skis somewhat, and they should be able to make a good recommendation.
They're in your neck of the woods, too.

well i would do at least a layer of 17oz nytex with mat on the back with a layer of 4.8(?) carbon..make sure you grind out all that crap green glue and pack it with thickened epoxy..

Hmmm, I see that. I'm not wild about their prices however and hate going downtown unless its absolutly necessary, probably stay with US Composites. Last time I went down there, I got another ticket, they have a number of intersections that are known ticket traps.:shooter3:

US composites has a good looking 11oz. if I'm not mistaken. Diagonal

Or run 1 layer of 17oz biax, and than a 5.8oz carbon/kevlar overtop (pick your colour too)

How about single 17oz Biax with black Pigment? Used that on the X2 last winter. I just want enough strength , but don't ever see myself dropping from 20-30 feet like Ross or Caker.

I THINK YOU WOULD BE FINE W/ THAT, But I would pack about 5 layers of about 3" wide strips of chop under the hood seal area and a 6" wide strip of chop at the bond line as well before puting the 17oz biax on and you will be all set.

thats exactly what I used to reinforce my fx

1 layer 17oz, 1 layer C/K for decoration.............it really made it feel MUCH stronger than stock....

and Im with you....My ski will never take a beating like ross/slutty or cakers.....

I'd probably be ahead of the game wrapping my whole body in Carbon fiber as it seems to get broke more than my ski's.:crying:

when i did mine last winter i did this:

-roughed the sides with 60 grit and cleaned
-filled bond line with epoxy mixed with 410 filler
-1 layer 8.5 oz biaxiale - 4" wide strip over the bond line
-1 layer 8.5 oz biaxiale - 8" wide strip over that
-1 layer 12.5 oz texalium - full side - bottom to hood lip

all three layers extend from nose to bulkhead and i did all three at the same time along with the bond line filler as to get the best mechanical bond between the 3 layers and the hull.

squeegied out as much extra epoxy as i could as well.

dont forget to fill the voids under the pole bracket area with foam and glass that up too....

did that... filled with foam, then did two layers of 8.5 under that area. and since i hit bottom so many times i reinforced the nose... one layer of 8.5 oz inside the entire nose area, then one layer of 26oz - i had to pretty much reconstruct it. then the outside with a Taylor Curtis carbon kevlar nose piece.

that should do the trick..i did two layers of 17oz nytex and two layers carbon in the nose then i made a nose piece..two layers of 17oz nytex and two of carbon..

I did mine in 5.7 oz carbon fiber twill, it conforms really well, but you will need more layers, I've got 6 layers, because it conformed so well I didnt need to grind out the ribs, it also conformed to the bond line well, and from my knowledge of composites its better to have curves and contours then one flat surface,

however I had the stuff left over from another project, so it might get a little costly from US composites.

so far its held up great and Ive broken a couple of motor mounts from side landings!

Some of you guys are way to reinforce happy.... all the $$$ your blowing in resin, you could have two, or a max of three layers of 11oz Carbon... with three layers of 11oz, you are ready for enough air to break your bones, before your hull

Im just not sure of the conformabilty of the 19oz... But one layer of that would be suffiecient for sure.

When carbon is done correctly it is very strong!
