What to start with

Hey all newbie to stand ups here from australia. I've owned a few different couches over the last few years but end up getting bored with them and selling them. The only one that didn't bore me was my 99 gp1200 cause I used to take it in the surf and it was a bit of fun jumping ect. My old man has always told me basically im a bit of a dingleberry stick riding couches and should harden up and ride a stand up as he brought the first kawasaki stand ups into australia a long time ago. So anyways i've seen the light I think and wanna get either a new superjet or SXR. I'm not a small bloke at probly 6'4 and around 230 pounds I'd say, mind you i'm a bit of a fat bastard these days and now i'm spearfishing again i should drop back down to say 215 pounds. Anyways what's the better idea, i'm pretty quick to pick things up and wanna do half surf riding and half stuffing around in the creek. What's gonna be the more reliable ski that's gonna suit me better?

Cheers

Hmmm . . . you can't go wrong either way but since you have surf close by, you should more strongly consider the SuperJet. It will take more money to make it leap out of the water but will be worth it in the end.

You're built for an SX-R but you should at least start with the Yamaha.

If your riding in Aussie surf any boat you should be able to throw around pretty easily.

A superjet is the obvious choice, but being as big as you are I would be inclined to run an SXR. Plenty of power, equipped pretty well in stock form.

Just ditch the crappy handlepole, get some footholds, and bilge pumps.

I think the learing curve on teh SXR will be easier due to its stability.

Yeah thanks for the reply's. I do like the sxr but i've never really had anything but yamaha's, what's the motor's like, do they match up reliability wise? What i'm hoping to do now is get one of both as my gf wants a go aswell, so I guess i'll spend the money on the sx-r straight up and then buy one of the earlier round noses for a bit cheaper and do it up and have the best of both worlds. Do blokes my size generally jump these ski's or am I gonna smash the crap out of it? And also one last question how long do you get out of a tank of fuel.

Cheers

You should be able to toss a ski around pretty well.

A tank of fuel?

I get four hours, you'll get two.

Well I am 6'8" 250 and have a SN 650 with a head, pipe, prop, and a little porting and it pulls me out of the water pretty quick. It porpoises a little bit and I would really like to try a longer rideplate and shortened handpole, but (for my skillz) it has plenty of power.
