What to paint inside of SJ with?

Before I start up my RN build, I want to paint the inside of the hull. Is there a certain type of paint or epoxy that people usually use? Also what color does everyone recommend? I know I have seen some pictures but couldn't seem to find them under the searches I did. Thanks!

I did mine with Engine High Temp Black after reinforcing and it still looks good. I got some small flaking from the bulkhead after 2 yrs.

I was thinking maybe some sort of Epoxy paint would be the best...I know I saw someone do it in a dark gray on here and it looked pretty clean. I am pretty sure they rolled/brushed it on.

i wouldn't paint it.

i did paint mine with the epoxy appliance paint and it is starting to come up after a year of gas spilling inside and what not.

plus if you have a crack or need to do a repair it means your gonna have to sand the paint away for the epoxy to stick.

if i were gonna do it again i would use the pigment additive and just mix it in with the epoxy when i reinforced. 0.02

I used Krylon Fusion for plastics. I chose the satin white. The black looks good but it makes the inside dark and harder to see when working inside the hull. The white makes it a lot brighter inside. Mine has held up pretty good over the last year. The only problem I have is the stains that I sprayed over are returning showing through the paint. Next time I would use a better sealer before the applying the white. I do have carbon fiber on the sides for reinforcement with some white over spray.

Has anyone tinted the epoxy when reinforcing with texalium? I would think that you could get a really nice effect doing that.

Ask Toby about making parts with texalium and tinted resins. I know he has made several tinted parts but not sure what kind of cloth he was using.

A few months ago I painted the inside of my HX with some Interlux Bilgekote. I used a gravity fed spray gun and it took all of 10 minutes to spray the whole inside of my boat. Since I was spraying it i used the special thinner as well. A roller would work just fine and you wouldn't need any thinner. I only used about a fifth of the can too, If you are close, you are welcome to borrow the stuff, you definitely won't use much. Below are some before and after pictures (about a year apart, new motor too). It really cleans up the engine compartment.

What do you guys mean by tinting the inside? Maybe post some links to the supplies so I can read up more on it. I am hoping to make a decision this weekend on what I want to do...Wanting to have my SJ ready for the Daytona freeride since I live here now.

So I take it this is to be added to the fiberglass resin when reinforcing? My hull is already reinforced....I guess I will just stick with the oldschool fiberglass look. Was just hoping to go with something a bit cleaner.

Rustoleum Garage floor epoxy paint kit.

It's a two-part paint that you mix, let it sit for a few minutes and then brush on. It dries hard as a rock!

It's 65 bucks and comes in gray and tan. It's painfully easy, very sano, and can be brushed on. Just don't use the flake.

Don't waste your time putting that stuff on the garage floor. I hate mine. You can't keep it clean or stain free. Every time I drop a tool it chips.

Sorry, didnt mean to jack

If you're going to reinforce the ski, just buy some resin dye in the color of you choice and apply it to your cloth. Then the color is in the cloth and not painted on. I've done black and yellow and they both have turned out better than I could have imagined.
