What to do with my sn sj

well i got this about two months ago and ive already put on the standard stuff, intake grate 0degre bars turn plate. but over the winter i plan on doing footholds and some engine work, i just need some help on what to do. I cant figure out if i should just swap in a 701, or rebuild this motor and get a pipe for it and be happy with it. it just doesnt have the power that i think it should have. the guy i bought the ski from said it was never rebuilt so id imagine it needs it pretty bad. what all goes into rebuilding one of these? Anyone have any advice? Also if i do keep this motor what is the best pipe to get that will give me the most power? ive seen a few differant ones but im not sure the differances between them.

Not to get too nosy, but what is your budget? A b-pipe can be used on your engine or a 701. You might want to get a b-pipe and ride one more season while saving for a 701. I don't think that I would bother re-building or modifying a 650 because that would be money lost. A 650 with b-pipe is roughly the same power as a 701 without a b-pipe so it probably comes down to which route you find a better deal on unless you have money for both.

I agree, don't put any money into rebuilding the 650. Save your money for a 701. A Factory B Pipe is your best bet. For the most part, everyone here will tell you that. I would start with a 701 and go from there as you have cash. Don't forget to get the right prop. Power is pointless if you are running a stock prop.
Where in MI are you? I'm in GR. If you are in the area, PM me and you can swing by some time.

i'm in kalamazoo, where do you normally ride at? yea thats kindof what i thought you guys would say. im good with that, ill just keep my eyes peeled for a nice 701. im not sure of my budget, whatever i have extra this winter is what im thinking. How hard is installing a 701? change motor mounts or what all goes into it? i feel like i have the ability just not all the knowledge yet.

I've seen 701's on this site for $500 to $600 used. You can get a couple hundred out of yours and not have too much out of pocket.
The swap is very easy. Same motor mounts and everything.
PM me if you ever need some help or pointers.

We ride Port Sheldon a fair amount in the fall.
