After dealing with the new wear ring situation i know i need a prop too.

Ski #1 set up
factory B-pipe limited chamber with factory waterbox.

Ski #2
Factory B-pipe limited chamber, cold fusion head running 175 psi.

I have been told to go with a solas concord 12/18. any other suggestions besides that and a hooker 9/15?

Thanks,
Shane

The Solas big hub 12-18 is too much, the 9-15 hooker is a little less load. A pitched down small hub 13/17 concord is a better match.

is it just an all around prop good everything? what about an old school 14/17 i have a chance to get a mint one for way cheap bought back in 99 and was only ran for 1 season

A low pitched prop that makes maximum low speed thrust is best for everything except racing. You should be able to find a good used Impros modified 13/16 concord or a small hub Skat 12-17 swirl plenty cheap. They are almost, if not as good as the newer big hub impellers. A Hooker 9-15 is ok but pass on the Solas big hub 12-18. Spend the money on a Worx 201 and a decent impeller, the old stuff doesnt hook up as well or make as much thrust at low speeds.

"Was talking to Dave at IMPROS a few weeks ago about his Hooker, we discussed different sizes and decided on a 10/16 for my setup. (84mm LPW with Team Scream prep'd 44's, BPipe, MSD, etc).

Prop showed up a few weeks ago, just got around to putting it in thursday night. Took out my SKAT Swirl (Freeride) 13-17 -? cutback. Well, had some carberation issues and ended up swapping to a set of 46 Novi's. So, part of my compairison is a bit skewed. May swap carbs back and see the true difference.

The ride. I am not going to say that there is a night and day difference. I will say this, this prop looks like you took a skat C75 and it had sex with a Solas concorde/dynafly and their offspring was named the Hooker. It did not have the lag that many have noticed with the SOLAS prop. The hookup off idle is very good and instant, must like the SKAT. It pulled well from bottom to top. I would say it gave me a little more top end than the skat. The skat would run out really quick on top. The biggest change I noticed was while doing rolls. I do not land on the plate but usually to the side, some my forward momentum would be enough that I did not lag any and keep moving, while others puts you in the water and you have to get going again. With the hooker, as soon as I hit the water and hit the gas it pulled immediately. No draging in the water or anything. Heck, I had to hold on to it. Doing some 1/4 hops (hop and turn to the left, land, hop and turn back right and only doing this by hitting the throttle) the ski kept leaping out of the water with no effort. This is only my 2nd time out so, still having to get back into the swing of things.

Overall, I will say this prop is well worth it if your running any prop other than a skat freeride. You would be seeing a huge improvement. If you do have a Skat Freeride now. It is a judgement call. If you have everything else done then go for it. I could be happy with my Skat or the IMPROS. Both are great props. If I had to pick. I would go with the Hooker. "

This is from a Review I did a few years ago. I am not a fan of the Solas Concord, To me they have a small lag before the prop starts to grab, hense the reason that I did not mention it. I have ridden one or two ski's that had the Concorde and I did not notice the lag, but the entire package (Parrdaddy's setup with TLR ported 701 with Thrust Trim) worked really well. Been on to many others where it had that nasty lag in it.

Here is the link to the review.

As to your setup, I would go with the IMPROS 9-15 If you could come across a skat freeride 12/17 I would not hesitate to use it.

thanks for review. i am some what budgeted and this prop is for a ski that is mostly used to teach people it has a prop in it from the 90's that is just way to worn down so that is why i am looking for a new prop. just something mild that will hook up well and be reliable for years to come. This ski sees the ocean maybe once a year if that now. My other ski has a Skat free ride and i love it just needs a wear ring for now. But when it comes time for a new prop i will be heading in the direction of the hooker 9/15.

I don't know much about the other props, but I can tell you that the 9/15 has done me well w/ low mods, lots of mods, lakes, and the ocean.

I was running it with a head and b pipe @ 2000 ft in lakes

Now riding it with ported 718 motor, blackjack carbs, head, ignition, lightened flywheel, and mag pump in the ocean (sea level) and I still love it.

I must admit, I could prob step up to a 10/16 but I don't feel I need anymore top end. My ski feels like a well tuned car and pulls hard all the way up to stop speed. Then thats the point where my D-cut plate does me no good and I take a giant spill.

A couple of the oceanside guys were really impressed with the prop and have since bought one.

*** edit - more info

So, to second what BK said, this things hooks up instantly and has a strong pull all the way through and even has quite a bit of top end. I chase boats and everything with this prob. I don't think I need to be going any faster. Don't think this is a BOTTOM END ONLY prob and you won't be able to go fast and chase boats or keep up with all the others that have higher pitched props.

Hey bro im new to the forums I have an 02 RN SJ. My motor set up is as follows... I was considering switching to a 9/15 hooker prop, my ski makes plenty of power at top end just seems like the prop is spinning up to much and not pulling me out the water as i think it should.. Do you think my sji is over propped?? (recently clocked in at 47mph on choppy day on the lake) Any advice/suggestions would be helpful thanks (just send me a message with any thoughts)
