the good thing about using the sheets is you can install drain holes and just let the water out if it ever gets back there....
It will just drain out and shouldnt be absorbed by anything since they only used a minimal amount of two part foam, and most of it is in the gunwhales rather than the lower part of the tray.
check this idea out too... would work well with the pink foam.
