Yes, resistor.

You don't have to run resistor plugs on a stock ignition.
Yamaha seems to have started demanding that (Resistor) a few years back, but never before that.

Yea, the resistor thing is a mute point when you have solid core wire. Probably was interfering with someones radio on a boat, so they made the change.
