what motor to buy?

I have two different motors that i am looking at and not sure would be best in the long run for me. Tha first is a really nice single carb 61x for a great price. The other is a low hour 760,both are complete and stock.Should i buy the cheaper 61 and spend the extra money to hop it up orspend more for the 760 and drop it in and go?I am freeriding on flat water only

ya it also has alot to do with what riding your looking to do....and how much money you want to put up front....the 760 is a great power house after "$$" work.......up front it sucks.....no low end....needs porting and head to really be a surfski motor....now if you want to go fast it's a great choice...if you are surfriding then it's not so great untill you get the work done.....not that i am disagreeing with supertune he's the best man to do the motor work you need.....but upfront and for less money the 701 is a better bet and can be made into a power house....if your looking for a killer bigbore in the long run....the 760 will be the right choice....personaly i have one of both and the 701's snap is still my favorite....gotta take it all into consideration.....

TanMan just went through all that. just cut them off inside the e-box and tape up the end's, The 62t comes to life alot better on lowend with higher compression from an aftermarket head and pipe of course. Another thing we have not tried yet is shimming the Hooker prop away from the pump vanes I know it seem's a little backward's for a hooker 9/15 but you are running a 62 T and they hit harder up top. Tanner is running a pro-tec pipe also. Just talking about what we have experienced with this particular boat, Hell he competed at surf slam with it that's gotta be worth something lol

I also have a older pro tec pipe .It mounts to the top of the head but there is no raised boss on the 62 head like there is on my 650.What do i do about that?

He used a group k milled 61-x head that cured the mounting nightmare and upped the compression. You could look for a pro-tec head I just bought a girdled pro-tec for $100.00

i would use the 650 electronics and change the cdi. but if it is a 62t cdi you will need to change the stator, cdi, and flywheel. just pull your 650 box apart and put in the 62t cdi and stator. then install it and use the 62t flywheel. when you take it apart you will see that the cdi has a female or male, i forget, that will not work with the 6m6 stator. that is why you have to change all three over to your ebox.
