I want to build a fast motor in this 89 650sx. Is the stocker a good start point?

Also what do you think of freestyle trim on this ski, is it worth it? and how do you set it up after you buy the right jet.

Last Q is how do i know what prop i have. All it says is skt trak and the number 5 is in a few places. Sure it is after market but what pitch.

Nothing wrong with the stock motor and a few bolt ons...... best place to start is higher compression head, bigger carb (get rid of the Keihn for Mukini), and an exhaust. I had the above with a Coffmans and it could move out of it's own way vs. stock.

You'd also want footholds or some straps if you plan to get into it, trim is not needed until your level warrants it and by then you would of outgrown the ski.

IMO I would do something with the pole, those are way too long and heavy for me.

Keep in mind you want to do all this for budget or it's not worth it on that ski. Read up more around here and you will understand why I'm saying this..... everyone rides SJs for a reason, and one day your going to realize that and want one also.... either come to grips with it sooner and save $ for one or sink $ into a ski that will have limits with no resale value vs. what was put into it.

What would i do with the handle pole? I have a bunch of bolt-ons already. I was curious if i could just slap a bigger motor in if it was even worth it.

thanks for the advice. I plan on getting a permanent job in town and saving up all winter for an SJ. What SJ should i look for for a freestyle/freeride in the small surf of Lake Michigan, year and body type.
