Got all the parts I need as far as I know and I've got some 1211 threebond on order. Do I need anything else for a full rebuild??
Instead if a flywheel holder you can run a piece of rope into the cylinder closest to the flywheel. Seems to have worked fine for me anyway.
Gaskets, crank seals, thread locker, stainless pipe thread sealant, harmonic balancer/ flywheel puller, flywheel holder tool and/or driveshaft coupler holder tool, piston pin removal tool. All of the special tools can be "improvised" at your own risk, but you will need to have them or figure out a substitute to complete the job.
I cant believe it took 8 posts " and beer, lots of beer " we must be getting old ??
Ill most likely do most of the rebuild by myself but may get a little help.
What should i do about crank seals though? Mine look fine but i dont know how much of a tolerance there is on them to be in spec.
Also, anyone hone their cyls themselves? thats one more part im debating.
I bit the bullet and got new OEM crank seals too - better safe than sorry, but it kills me how spensive they are for little ol rubber oil seals.
wamiltons has the seals for $50, ive yet to call any local places but does anyone know of a cheaper site?
Rebuilding is expensive... I got some killer deals and still spending more then i want to be. Out of curiosity how much is a brand new 61x?
absolutely!while you have the motor apart, it would be a good idea to consider a little freestyle port job. $275 = nice power gain!:arms:
