What is this wet thing?

There is a wet, fabric like thing around where the pvc pipe meet the driveshaft tube.
Is this normal? What/why is this here?

looks similar to what was around my steering cable on my RN. I cut them off and slopped 5200 on there.

I am defoaming a sn right now too and have that same faberic that is wet. Mine pretty much tore off as I was removing the foam around it so I am going to remove the rest and just 5200 it all up.

Thats the sorry excuse for a gasket in all of them. Clean it out real good actually remove the pvc piece and clean it real good and either 5200 or thickened epoxy on both ends. Do the same thing around the steering cable tube and water lines

there is some more around where the exhaust enters the back of the ski

wth were you thinking yamaha?

biggest leaks were around the exhaust outlet and inlet, and the bond line

defoaming done. getting behind the exhaust pipe it a PITA! bond line cleaened up and ready for 5200
