Super Jet What is the piece that is screwed in between the cylinder sleeves?

I was putting on an aftermarket head and noticed the piece that is screwed inbetween the two clyinders was broken in two and the screw was laying down inbetween them.


Does any one know what that part is and what is purpose is? Will it be ok to run the motor with out it?

It's a sacrificial anode. You're fine without it.

The theory is that electrolysis will attack Matt_E's "sacrificial anode" first and not something important inside your motor. If you spend all your time in salt water it may be worth having. If you spend most of your time in fresh water not really needed.
