What is the electrical box made of

I sent the back half of my superjet e box to jet hot coatings and they say it will melt in the process unless it is anything else but steel or alum. They don,t know if it is alum or other non ferrous metal.

It is aluminum. It is likely to get close to the melting point. If they are aware of this when processing it, you should be OK. It is thick enough to hold its shape, as long as they don't treat it in the same manner as regular steel. I had a few ebox backs done by A-1 Ceramacoat in Clearwater and he said that they would not take them to as high a temperature as regular steel parts are done with. If they are not sure, I wouldn't let them do it.
