What is better about a RN?

I have owned 2 SN, have never ridden a RN but I just made a late season purchase of an '07 SJ. I have the SJ but not the paperwork, so I have not had it out yet. What will be different? thanks

Well, in stock form.....
More power
Higher pivot
Different handling
lighter pole
Stronger top deck

the best thing IMO about a roundie is how easy its to shorten/renforce the handpole

Like it's impossible to have a RN pole on a square ?

One thing that is better about the RN is that you can pick and choose an aftermarket hood and nose piece (for the price of a complete square), have plenty of pole brackets to chose from to bring the pivot point down (to handle more like a square), and you get a more modern look.

other than the pole mount, how do they handle differently?

and yes on the more stock power, YES on the easier to find aftermarket hoods and such.

but... those parts cost more than both of my square nose boats combined!

and 650 power doesnt suck at all, its MUCH fun, doesnt use much fuel, and dead nuts reliable.

that being said, i have a couple of 701 engines to go in [eventually]

but, to tell someone that a 650 superjet is no fun or sucks, is just simply WRONG.

Ride the round. You will see the difference in handling immediately! The rn feels lighter especially when rolling. I had both several years ago, swapped the engine (group-k big bore 780) from the square to the round. Rolls became a reality instead of a dream. And the rn still had the stock pole and pivot.

My first SN was a 650, but my current is a '95 with the single carb 701. Only engine mods are a b-pipe, choke removed w/primer and a Prok flame arrestor. Will probably move the b-pipe to the '07, it is only a few years old! I have an Ocean Pro steering nozzle, Yamaha Pro Series intake grate and ride plate on the '95, are those worth moving to the RN? Thanks

I got my first stand-up this summer 100% stock 701 SN. Super fun, couple months go by and I got a modified SN, 701 61x/62T Ported, Piped, Impeller, Compression, etc.

IMHO for the $ you can pickup a nicely modified SN you have to take that $ and pay more for a SLIGHTLY modified RN.

I've ridden both, and don't see any reason other than after market availability to go with a RN, and even then you can get a top-deck conversion for your SN or pickup a RN hull for a decent price in the future if you HAVE to have a RN.
