What helmet do I buy?

I'm going to buy a helmet.
I see alot of diff designs, looking for other peoples pros and cons.

Here's a list of what I know I want

1. light
2. face covered
3.water won't ruin it

Never wore a helmet on the water and figure better get one and get used to it if I wanna ride Daytona.

I saw that hockey/lacrosse helmet and think that may be a decent one.

any comments will be a huge help and also where to get it.

I bought a pro-rider bacause it was the cheapest one I could find at the time about 2 years ago. I'm still wearing it. That's probably not good advice since I broke my nose while wearing it.

check out the white water rafting helmets. they have optional face guards.

and get ear protection. if not duct tape the ear holes!

I think there are some threads about this in the tech faq. I like the bellistic. It's comfortable and I like the chin strap/clip. I just cracked one and didn't get a scratch on me so I ordered another one :banghead: You can find them for $50-60 delivered.

Don't get a protec ace spade!! They flex!! :crutches:

I was also looking at the pro-rider helmet (and will probably go with that one) Protec (the BMX company) has a pretty nice one that seems to be super light (like .5lb lighter than the prorider)...I am torn between the two.

That too is a nice helmet.

I can say that after wearing the Pro-Rider and a Protec (my buddy has one), the Protec helmet is more comfortable. The Pro-Rider did, however, stand up quite well to a pretty good pancake I took this fall... I got really twisted up attemping a BF... long story short, my head somehow wound up between the pole and hood. One of the vents at the top of the helmet got hooked on my limiting rope SS eye bolt... pulled the bolt straight and the helmet just had a little damage... of course my neck didn't feel very good for about a month...

the pics is the SS eye bolt... :banghead: :crutches:

So you like the protec better? How are they both as far as waterlogged foam inside?

I like the pro-rider better personally, even though the protec is a little more comfortable. Sounds strange, but the prorider feels lighter on while riding. Maybe because there is less padding in the prorider, and it doesn't ever really feel water logged.
