I think I will be fine running some after market F/A. I am not to concerned about getting much water in my engine... I think...
80% of my riding is on the lake and I would like to put some nice filters on then...

I hear Prok and Fly a lot...

What filters do you run, what advantages do they have etc.

I have oem 44 boxes for when I go to erie, surf, etc.

Thanks guys!!!

I started running the newer K&N Pro series about 2 years ago, the best that I have had to date. Tau Ceti's are nice, but they fall apart, same with the FLY/Prok (Same thing).

I have had prok's fall apart, but not often in 5 years. They look alot better than K&N new style IMO. I would say OEM or PROK with FLY's are PROK. Only problem is PROK / FLY ar only avail in clear now so anodized FA adaptors help the look.

No he will not!
I have had good luck with K&Ns over the past 3 years. I don't even use prefilters anymore, but I'm not really learning any underwater tricks anymore :Banane01:

I vote for K&N, the only other brand I have used was OceanPro, but they're not around anymore.

I ran stock flame arrestors for years thinking they were the best.....wrong..
order Fly from Blowsion and take the water socks and throw them away...
so much better than the stockers....

Those that are running aftermarket FA's do you really notice much of a power gain?

I was thinking about throwing some on my ski, but for now I'm sticking with my stock filters with 2 screens removed to help prevent water ingestion.

I've only got a bpipe and head with stock 38's so do you all think aftermarket FA's would show a noticeable power gain? I'm not too worried about water injestion and aftermarket FA's seem like a cheap way to gain some power.

Just use a set (2) of OEM 44mm (61x) F/A with 1 screen and get a set of F/A spacers from Patrick @ X-metal, He just finished up making 60 of them and should be back from the anodizser's this week...Aftermarket clamp on's are for big bell/mouth racing carbs. Stay dry! Make HP! Motors don't run on water!!

I had the stinking cone thing in a Prok fall out and "cork" my rear carb in the middle of Niagra! I made it back down river running on 1 cylinder. I was pissed!

Stockers only from now on. But I have only tried Prok and TC's and they both fell apart in 1 season. Junk.

i have been running the hot prods version of the tau cetis on both of ny SXR's. i have had tehm on my 03 for ever. no problems.

i keep them in stock here, 40.00 ea. + you will need adapters, which i also have.

i also have new ocen pro vortox filters here. 40.00 ea, or 75.00 for two. this includes all stainless mount hardware. they will fit any 38mm carbs. they too are awesome filters. and they look trick.

Thanks for all the responses guys!!! This is what I wanted to hear

The carbs I have have adapters for cones already...
I have a set of oem 44 boxes, some old k&n cones, i think riva cones, and what look like proks but with an open top.... already...

Wow how that stuff acumulates haha...

I guess im just going to try the stuff i have now....

Thanks every one...

When i switch these around it wont require any carb adjustment will it? Which should i set my ski up with, to then switch around to the others and test em out....

Thanks!!!

you may have to lower your pop off, depending on how high it is set now.

i would also richen the adjusting screws a little.
