Right up the block from my business, are my 2 friends who one owns Pat's Steaks, and the other is Geno's Steaks. Joe (Geno's) has a sign posted on both of his odering windows, the sign clear says "This is America, when ordering speak English". All the drama and publicity started because one of the city councilman Kenney said, "Joe you should take that down, itz a disgrace", Joe replied, "Go Uck yourself, this is my business, and they hold up the line" Check it out here

tacht....it's a lesson that took me most of my 24 years of life to figure out. Within the last few, I think I finally found it.

They hold up his line.....not a bad reason for wanting people to order in English. But the asshole kind of attitude about it probably twists some peoples titties a bit.

PC is dead. People are what they are for better or for worse.

Stereo-types exist for a reason for better or worse.

Unfortunately the vacationing foreigners get caught up in this.

I was born and live in South Florida and to say I've been subjected to the invasion(?) is an understatement. I'll never forget the time I was in downtown Miami and noticed a sign in the front window of a store that read "we speak english" That will forever be burned into my hard drive!
When I lived in Italy I completely conformed to their language & culture. No one there ever knew I spoke english...unless I told them.

You nailed it right there; I have no problems with legal immigrants coming here. Our country was formed by immigration. And I don't want people forgetting their heritage & culture of their homeland. BUT these people have obviously left their countries for some reason, perhaps thinking American is so much better than theirs. Then if it's that much better here, expect to do the right thing & learn the language. I think people have a lot more patience with those who try to speak the language than with those who refuse to try. Just my .02 worth.....carry on:smile:

I for one applaud Geno,
it's his business and he has the right to make the rules on who he serves and how.

It is not only rude but down right insulting when someone lives in a country and refuses to use or learn the language.
I have lived in several countries and always made an effort to blend in.

When 6 years ago I was fortunate enough to move to this, the greatest country in the world I made a conscientious decision to leave the old behind and live life like an AMERICAN.

You go, Geno.
