FX-1 What all is done to make a 144 pump bolt in?

Spend the time fitting the 144 pump shoe and pay attention to proper driveline alignment! The FX grate will work just fine...

Would i want to get the pump done before the shoe that way i can align the shoe? Im not sure how to align everything if i remove it all at once. Im not even sure if ill be doing the conversion as im terrified of ruining my only fx1 hull but theres a good chance i start on it in the coming months since i wont be riding.

All these questions have been answered in the previous posts. Sorry, there's no magic here. If you decide to tackle this project, you should first be comfortable with grinding/working with fiberglass and resin (you will also need a place to make a BIG mess and stink). It really isn't that hard. I learned quick because I wanted it done.

First off, it's pretty tough to ruin the hull. You might make a mistake, but resin + fiberglass + patience will fix it.

I had the pump conversion done, mine is from Blowsion, then started on the shoe. I worked on the shoe until it was square and perpendicular. I used quick setting marine tex just to tack it in place, so to speak, while I aligned the pump and midshaft. As Flash-FX mentioned, alignment is critical. I continued to grind and fit until the midshaft slipped on into position with zero force, and pump seal was snug all the way around the shoe. I then epoxied the shoe and the pump brass inserts into place. I was able to get perfect alignment to midshaft without any shims.

I use a jd top loader intake grate. Worst quality casting I have ever seen, but it works well.
