Whaddya Think?

I took a look at this SJ today. She's a little rough. It's an '02 that he hasn't ridden in two seasons. It started up fine. Didn't water test yet. Mods I know of:

B-Pipe
Worx Intake grate (not sure which).
Dominator ride plate
Umi Bars and throttle
Solas Prop (not sure of pitch).
Aluminum handpole (small dent on top, metal work was kinda wavy)

Paint on hood is bad. He said he tried to remove old stickers. There is a half assed repair on the bottom left rear, and the coupler seems to have too much of a gap.

He's asking $2800 neg.

Input?

I wasn't gonna pay $2800. That's what he's asking. Still not sure I want to buy. That's why I posted here, so I could get some input.

Buy that ski for $2500, my complete rn hull and wdk hood for $2000, and sell that hull for $1000 and you will have a NICE limited freestyle ski for $3500.

It could happen.

Didn't notice the battery tray missing. Good catch. I know the hood seal was missing, but that's easily replaceable too.

The pipe discoloration is something I also missed.

He has the missing bilge in another boat and I also have a spare I could always throw in. The plumbing and switch are presently on the ski.

I was gonna low ball him pretty good, but still not sure if I want to buy. Steering was kinda tight and not sure what else could be lurking inside. He has never opened it up.

Thanks for all the input.

Post some pics or PM them to me of this hull you mentioned. I am not opposed to building a ski. I have a guy who has everything I need to put together a fresh 701 for me for a reasonable price.

You should do a compression check and be sure it run's and check out the pump. But don't be thinking you are gonna just buy a hull and then build a ski for less than what he is asking for that one. I am not saying just go and buy it either but it is all there and all the little component's really start adding up when starting with just a hull.

No doubt on the compression check. Try to fire it up even if you have to bring a battery. You learn a lot just if it will turn over. Make sure nothing else is missing besides the battery tray.
