Wetjet intake?

I have a wetjet motor on my bench that is going in my FX1 and have heard that SOME intakes have cast in reed stuffers and some do not. Can somebody tell me what I am looking for or a picture of either setup? Also is the intake w/o the stuffers still more desireable than the regular 61x intake? And are the cases the same as normal Yamaha 61x cases?

Some have the built in stuffers, some do not. You can tell easily by the carb... if it has built in stuffers than the bolt spacing on intake mani will be different (read wider) to accommodate the 46mm carb.

I know because I have a wetjet motor in my SJ (Bought it NOS and it has the regular reeds and manifold)

So.. take a 44mm carb and see if the bolts line up.

Hope that helps.

If your intake has the little recessed area at the rear bolts to fit the little bracket for the bearing housing grease fitting, then it's standard 61X. If it's just plain flat with no alotment for fitting the bracket, then it's wetjet.

That's just a std OEM yamaha type, even tho Wetjet used them. The Wetjet one with stuffers is a 1 piece manifold, not a 2 piece oem type one shown in pic...

Do you think the difference between the 2 is in the Wetjet manifold or the 46mm Wetjet carb?

W/o a carb, seems that the Wetjet manifold sells for about $150 or so and the 61x sells for about $25. They have the same reed area right?

46mm Wetjet carb is the same as an aftermarket SBN except for the odd bolt pattern and jetting, so YES the performance gain is in the manifold itself! Fast air speed makes for a faster throttle response and smaller runners provide a better signal to the carb as well.
Keep in mind this is not for big HP, mainly a nice flat torque curve and not a lot of high RPM's.
