wear limit

I have a cylinder that needs to be honed for sure. It had a set of 84.5 pistons in it. I measured the cylinder as it is now. 84.55.
question is after i hone it, it will measure 84.58 or 84.59.
Is this to much clearence for a new set of 84.5 pistons?
should i just take it up to the next size? 85mm
thanks for the help.

more info..

what type of motor
forged or cast piston

this sounds like a yamaha 760cc motor and I would say no... you need to bore it up to the next higher bore...

From what you are indicating, you are looking at .006" clearance.
you are on the outer limits, but should be fine.

sorry, for the bunk info Jp...

Thanks for the quick replys.
I would be using wiseco pistons. the motor is a 760 from a waveblaster 2.
its stamped 62t. I know your suppose to have the new pistons in hand before you can figuare the proper bore out but i didn't want to order 84.5's then find out that the bore was too sloppy to use them. I'll have them honed and made round then remeasure and report back with my finished size. Once they are round again i guess i'll know better.
Thanks again Nick and Paul

If they are out of round, thats a differant question? I just answered what he asked................?

If you are running Wiesco's, then you want to start with .0055" clearance.
they grow at a differant rate than cast. you will be fine
