wb cylinders

Im building a 760 motor using a 98 cylinder, im looking at piston kits online and their seems to be a difference between the 97 wb cylinders and 98 cylinders. Does anyone know if the 97 works in 98??

Waveblaster models ran with various 701cc engine combinations and 144mm pump

1993 through 1994 The craft remained unchanged with the 61X cases and blue/purple color paint commonly referred to as "blurple".

1995 Yamaha changed the color to red.

1996 Yamaha added (2) 38 mm Mikuni carburetors and 62T cases to the WaveBlaster, resulting in slightly more power, from 63 to 73 hp. This model was discontinued in 1996.

1997 through 1998 Yamaha changed the color scheme to blue and white and renamed the machine to WaveBlaster Limited ( not available in USA).

Waveblaster 2 ran in 1996 and 1997 as a 760cc with a 155mm pump. I believe these are the only two years it was available.

Waveblaster 3 or alson known as the Waveblaster 800 ran I believe in 1998 - unkown, as it was not available in the US Market. This runs the 800cc motor which is a different motor completely than the 700 or 760 which parts are interchangeable on. The Cyclinders on the 800 are each spate IIRC.

Someone else might come on and correct me as my knowledge on the 800 is limited, but as far I as I know there is not a factory 800 cylinder setup that interchanged with the 701 and 760 engines.

Yes, they should. As far as I am aware, the only difference in the 760 engines were that the later 760s had staggered compression which was from a different head, and the CDI timing was different. They did this in the 760 WaveBlasters due to the amount of crank twist that was happening from turning the big 155mm pump. They had some issues with the rear cylinder wanting to seize up.
