WaveDaze Zumba for wives/ girlfriends/anyone

I'm a certified experienced Zumba instructor. I'll be attending this year, and will be staying in a nearby hotel. I had an idea for some of the wives, girlfriends, and/or whomever might like the idea. . .

Of a Zumba workout every morning before they head out to the beach, or DOUBLE workouts-if you're like me and you're riding as well. I teach a fun high energy class that is great for ANY fitness level (beginner-advanced) since I provide alternatives and modifications to movements. You'll burn off the calories of the previous night's party and get a shot of endorphins to help you face the day.

I don't know how I'll swing the sound, I'm hoping for some ideas. I already posted on WaveDaze FB page and was notified that if there is interest, perhaps the hotel can give us some space.

I can supply the iPod, and instruction. Any thoughts, volunteers or donations of portable sound, water bottles, sweat bands, towels and/or spare underwear is greatly appreciated.

ps. welcome to the X.. bout time you got on here.

Fantastic! Not sure what to do at this point. Unless someone else (maybe already in the area?) wants to volunteer some leg work? I'll probably see which hotels everyone is staying at, and see what facilities the hotels themselves have (hardwood/tile floor being preferable), and if they're ok with some morning music.

how about doing it on the beach
After I wrote a proposal all out and looked at Quality inns photos, I realized if all else fails I will do it on the beach. Won't be too easy on that sand, but we can certainly make due as long as music on the beach is ok. So its definitely a plan B. (And also most likely what we'll have to do)

LOl....bless him he has never done it before...host (Quality Inn) hotel would be the best they even have this hall across the street that could work.
I didn't realize they had a hall across the street. From what I read on their site, I am not sure how I'll swing it WITHOUT being charged as a group to use the facility. I did word it in the proposal that it is for the Wave Daze Charity event, and that it would not only benefit attendees, but the employees and guests of Quality Inn as a token of appreciation FROM Quality Inn. Again, it will probably end up being done on the beach, so I have to get myself some mobile PA system or something unless someone wants to volunteer theirs.

Good news for everyone who was interested in the Zumba. I won't post any DEFINITE info, but it will probably be only one class Saturday morning (around 11am for you party girls and boys who sleep late) at the Quality Inn. If it does go down there, be prepared for carpeted floors (socks are recommended since sneakers grab too much). Unless you want your feet to look like you took a trip to Thailand and broke curfew, barefoot Zumba is also not recommended, but its an option for anyone with sadistic tendencies.

I would say, if you're planning on doing Zumba at the Hotel that morning, take a few moments (in the days before you pack for the trip) to get on a TIGHT pair of socks (little to no chaffing that way) and try some moves on your home carpet for a bit. Get a feel for the friction see what works best.

Of course as with any exercise, please be mindful of your physical limitations, if any. If something is uncomfortable, painful, or otherwise a cause for concern, PLEASE refrain from that action for the benefit of your wellbeing.

On a lighter note, I'm sure LOTS of things during this event will be cause for concern, and most likely multiple cameras will be on them to make sure it is remembered:bad:

my girl is a zumba addict. pretty sure this news will make her day.

I love Zumba.... And I'm so in! You could add 3 more ladies to that list. I think I will also ensure mr cattledog partakes as well!

Can I get a roll call for this class? I'm afraid this is the ONLY promotion of this event that I'll get. . . . On this H2O thread!

I've been told 11am Saturday morning at the Quality Inn. I'm bringing my ion tailgater for sound (should be loud enough), and my nano loaded with songs (though only an hours worth will be heard).

I'm hoping this will pick up steam and pack out the room with at least 10 people. I know WaveDaze (and jetskiing in general) is a male dominated sport, but supposedly this event is 'family oriented' (at least a bit more than Daytona). So I at least expect a crowd of semi-unhappy girlfriends, and wives in attendance. You know, the ones who are dragged along on a 'vacation' that consists of helping their significant other dragging skis on and off the beach, rinsing the gear in the hotel shower, and taking video of jump attempts. Girls love that.:flowers1: Zumba can at least be a close second to an emotional outlet for the weekend (alcohol being the first).

Spread the word if ya' can. Thanks everyone :djsmilie:
