Custom/Hybrid Waveblaster's Superfreak Build

No pictures but made some good progress last night. Dave was a huge help in getting the engine aligned. We ended up having to modify the motor mount holes because the engine was shifted forward and to the side. I honestly think something was just a tiny bit off in the mounting plates but it's good now.

Got the pole on and the tubes drilled. All the cables are run. Thursday is turf with any luck and final plumbing.

Making some good progress now. Got the engine all set, and have most everything plumbed up. Superunatural gave me a hand on the turf Sunday and I'm about done, just the rails left now. Tomorrow I hope to plumb up the cooling lines and I need to find some more turf because everything I have left is running the wrong direction.

Fired her up for the first time tonight....made all those hours put into this ski almost seem worth it. I hope to ride this weekend (not being on the water is driving me insane) if weather holds out. I expect I will need a new prop, but hopefully it's close enough that I can enjoy it.

Well the plan is to go for my first ride tomorrow. I hope to have a trouble free day. I expect I will need a new prop, but hoping that it'll get me through the weekend with an idea of how much more pitch I need.

Still some details to finish, chinpad :lmao:, yes I plan to run one. Working on some possible graphics as well but right now I'm just excited to ride.

Looks really good ! chin pads are over rated. The same motor coming out of a SJ into a SF will need to go up one or sizes on the prop .

I'm moved by DASA power!
Blaster chamber worked, maiden voyage was yesterday, my ski had a few issues, his ran great! If anyone has an extra 62t raider nozzle I'll buy one off of you! My ski was running great, till my steering nozzle exploded. Either way ed's freak or mine appear to be the perfect boat chasing skis, I pancaked the crap out of myself with my first real backflip attempt, apparently my form is terrible I have some video of the day I am going to upload soon.

Thanks everyone. A huge thanks to superunatural who has just about as many hours in this build as I do, he was a huge help and did a lot of the small detail work on the ski that made the build.

I absolutely LOVE this ski. It's WAY more stable than I expected at speed. I was running about 45-50 next to Justin's Honda yesterday and it was rock solid. I think with a little more prop it'll be a high 50s-low60s boat. My setup in my old SJ went 57 before I ditched the TL. I feel like I have a whole new engine in this ski, it's super responsive and revs a bit faster. I'm thinking I might need to try a new prop, but for now this one is working well. Also from what I've seen SO FAR, I'm really happy with the stock pump in my ski.

Today we had a little chop and I was just skipping right across the top. I was doubling boat wakes all day, taking off on one side and landing on the back side of the other. Ski never once tried to sub. I need some time to feel like I warrant owning this ski. I really need to work on getting backflips down, Justin hopped right on it and threw a big flip with no trim off a boat wake. I'll get it eventually, but right now I can't get over how well it handles and how quick it turns. I found myself trying little things I hadn't before, like spinning down the backside of boat wakes, etc. I can't wait to really get dialed in and learn some new tricks. The ski is just incredible. I had ridden a couple in the surf but that's not my comfort zone. I asked Tem when I bought the ski for a ski I could chase down boats with and one that I could ride as a rec ski and not wear myself out on in an hour and I got that and more. It was worth every late night and hour I put into it, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

It really is an awesome ride, isn't it?

How big was that backflipping boatwake? (Or, how big was the boat?)

I love this thing.

Boat was probably 50ish foot. Wasn't a start up wake or anything, he was probably running 25knots or so. We didn't get anything huge yesterday coming through since it's still early in the season. Justin was backflipping everything yesterday, he was going off on his Rok earlier in the day.

Well fck me. All I ever get are 14ft fishing boats and every now and then a wakeboard boat or every now and then a 30 footer.
