Super Jet wave venture in a SN

Im looking at buying a 95 wave venture 700 to rebuild and put in a SN. Cost of the Venture is $300, Plus 5 hour trip to pick it up.
He says the motor is trashed, he couldnt give me an answer to what excactly was trashed....pistons or crank. This ski is close to the ocean, says he has rode it in the ocean, mostly in the rivers(probably bracish rivers).

To me I see----
motor that I will have to invest 400-800 to rebuild
Carb to rebuild
Prop 50% chance its ok condition
Electronics 70% chance they are ok
but I have all the parts and thats half the battle....minus pipe.

In your experiences is this going to be worth it? or should I go for the waveblaster II 760 thats running for $1000??

if you're only buying the ski for the motor, you should just look at motors for sale on the forum or contact a motor builder like jetmaniac or other guys on the forum.
you'll have a better motor, for less hassel and effort for probably the same amount of over all cost. (taking into consideration 800 of rebuild, 300 of purchase, and 10 hrs of driving)

if you were buying a ski that was running for 800 and were just going to transplant the motor then i'd say jump on it, but you have a lot of unknowns here.

Worst case you will get a bunch of good usable parts from the Venture. Sell off the stuff that you can't use(those hoods sell for $150-250 alone since they commonly break)..if the cases are good you can build yourself a 62t/61x motor like what comes in the 96+ superjets. You definitely won't lose out on the deal as long as its not a complete turd.

Nightrider05, thanks for the vote of confidence.

Gerretonufer, I don't need a race ski, or todo back flips, those motors are nice, but out of my price range, Im lookin to assemble a full ski at that price (1,800), comeing from a 650, stock 700 will be plenty for atleast one summer.

Byeai, Im leaning toward the wave blaster II, with twin carbs, also has riva head, riva carb covers, rental bars, and a b-pipe I can resell, as the pipe won't fit in a sn. It is a $1000 running ski an hour away.

Thanks guys, waiting on more pictures of the venture to see how rusty it is inside.

I'm just looking at your proposed expense above and if it were me, sight unseen, and told the motor is shot, driving 10 hours round trip for something will cost more long run is scary.

I picked up a motor from a user on the forum (62t/62t) for something like 600-700 and had jetworks go through it for me, and hone it with a fresh top end.
(nightrider05 sold me a CDI for it actually  )
I know it's all to each there own and I respect that, however for me, i wouldn't drive a collective 10 hrs for a crap ski that may (for all anyone knows) have cracked cases and a rusted crank.

If that is the path you go, I truly hope it works out for you, just hate to see a fellow rider get burned on something.
